Recently, I sensed the Lord would have me minister on this topic. Every decision we make today will impact those around us either in a negative or positive way. Our families and friends need us to take charge of our lives.
You see, there is an inexcusable shortage of days for any person. The book of James describes our lives as the grass of the field, one day green and the next day mowed down. Our lives are fragile much like a mist or vapor. This causes me to seize every opportunity to make a difference in my world.
Proverbs six tells us it would be sad at the end of our days to realize the “ant” was wiser than we have been. So, my motivation is to endeavor to live every day with a heavenly motivation. The quality of my life is entirely up to me. If I ignore my future, I undermine my present life. I realize that wasting my time is equal to wasting my life. Wasting days produces a wasted life that does not glorify the Lord or leave a legacy of hope and faith to our descendants.
For instance, statistics tell us we will watch television or surf the internet over 4,500 days in our lifetime but only attend church 547 days. That is a staggering fact to me. Tomorrow matters spiritually (where we will spend eternity), financially (will we have enough money saved for our older years), physically (have we taken good care of bodies), mentally (what are we reading and feeding our minds) and generationally (what will my family members treasure from my life). I enourage you to be wiser than the ant!
