Once again I am reflecting on the past year. Another year, another opportunity to leave a godly legacy, another year to expand the kingdom of God, another year to pray and intercede for others,  another year to help someone in need. In addition, I refuse  to allow offenses, hurts or slights and  choose to keep my focus on the goodness of the Lord.  I learned a long time ago, I cannot do anything about the actions of others. However,  I can do something about my attitude, my thoughts and whether I am in the faith of God.

At the first of the year I ministered at our church on discarding any baggage  we might accumulate such as fear, drama, unrealistic expectations, etc. This is an ongoing discipline but not impossible. For example, as I read through the Bible during the year, as I have for the last thirty years, each chapter speaks to me!  It corrects my thinking and gives me the desire to adjust my behavior. The Apostle Paul had sage advice for us in Phil. 3:13-14, “...but I focus on this one thing, forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God through Christ Jesus is calling us.” (NLT)

I am leaving 2018 with a clear conscience.  I am ready to walk in obedience to the Lord.  I welcome 2019 and its challenges, opportunities, and new situations to see the goodness of God in operation. My faith and trust is in the goodness of my God! I believe He will reward our faith in His Word as we reach out to others in Jesus’ name!
