I have never been one to wait joyfully, something in me wants things done now. Thank God i have learned through the years to listen to the voice of The Lord as I read my bible for His direction. As I read from the Old Testament prophet Habakkuk in chapter two, verse three, it said “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal, and it will not fail. Though it tarried, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.”
I believe every promise The Lord has given us is hastening toward us. Our responsibility is to wait on His direction. In the Hebrew language one of the meanings of the word “wait” is like waiting for the dawn early in the morning. When it is pitch dark outside it seems like the morning will never come. Yet the bible instructs us to wait!
The rest of the second chapter of Habakkuk issues a warning. These warnings can stop the promised blessings in our lives from ever materializing. Habakkuk called them “woes”. They are pride and greed, guile or deception, violence or murder, drunkenness and idolatry. It is my decision to avoid these five areas. I don’t want to frustrate Gods will in my life. So, I examine my heart and wait for His appointed time in my life.
Perhaps, you are waiting for a promise from The Lord? It may seem like darkness has set up camp around you. The good news is the answer will not delay, it is coming!
