Through the years I have learned to stay focused on my goals in life. It takes discipline to persevere through the daily hindrances of life. “Crazy” problems or situations can happen at the most inopportune  or inconvenient times. Our plans for the day can go out the window in a moment.   For instance, I had a paper to write and many obstacles kept cropping up. Some of them were important, others were things I allowed to take precendent. Finally, I determined writing the paper was to be my primary focus.  When we had an unexpected snow today, I was able to finish my paper. I simply took advantage of a rare eventful day at home! The result was such a relief to have this behind me.

You see, we are given the ability, and the honor, to take charge of any distractions we might have in our lives.  Most of the time when we put things off, we don’t see ourself procrastinating.  We don’t really plan to not fulfill our days and personal destiny, we just mentally postpone it to a later time. What happens is we unconsciously give honor to those diversions. Those personal pleasures,or the little things, effectively steal God’s best.

Is it possible we become so focused on the small items that we miss out on the bigger picture? In this new year it is our honor to seize every moment or opportunity we are given. We are not promised tomorrow. Our decisions today can make a difference in our personal life, homes, churches, and communities.  I am determined with God’s help to take better charge of my decisions and become more disciplined. It is my choice to refuse to put off until tomorrow anything I can solve or finish today.  I encouirage you to refuse to procrastinate in the small or large places of your life. Don’t allow anything to steal your final purpose and destiny.
