I returned home from California Wednesday night and today was “catch up.” Many years ago I determined I would focus my life on seeking the heart of the Lord for my daily activities. When I recovered from a serious sickness in 2001, my focus changed. One adjective could have described me before then ~ busy! However, I am not busy anymore!
You see, my focus is to run my race well as long as I am able! I don’t have any time to waste, because the realization that my days are numbered is ever before me. Too often we make excuses for not serving in our local church, helping others, praying or even attending church because we have been so busy. We need a break, we are tired!
While I was in California I went to dinner and a movie with dear friends. We saw The Apostle Paul and it was outstanding. I highly recommend it for every Christian. I believe the early church would look at our frantic, busy lives and shake their heads in dismay. They had one motivation ~ to stay alive and share Jesus with everyone they met.
With all of our modern conveniences, we still try to cram too much into our days that has no eternal value. I challenge you to ask the Lord what is the most important thing, and then do it! I love to serve God and others. So, my focus and energy is on Him. When I lay down at night, there is peace, knowing all is well. My day wasn’t wasted on petty stuff! Are you too busy? Perhaps, it is time to stop, reevaluate and allow the Holy Spirit to help you make the most of your time.
