This week our church is celebrating our thirty-fourth anniversary. Through the years we have experienced the faithfulness of God during the best of times, small progress, difficult situations and times of grief and sadness. When we began this journey of faith Bob and I had one mission – to establish a body of believers with a world consciousness and a place of prayer.
Our first location was a little building in the center of our town, the only place available to rent, and frankly it was not much. However, we were determined to be faithful in this place where the Word of God would go forth in an uncompromised manner. We were well aware that it was not much, but we were thankful.
A few weeks before we opened the doors, the Lord gave me a dream with clear direction and revelation concerning the first service. I shared the details with my family at breakfast and we were eager to see the hand of God at work in our little town. It happened just as the Lord revealed.
I want to encourage you to remain steady during the trials and difficulties of life. Everyone alive experiences seasons of heartache and disappointments in life. This should not be a surprise to us, Our Lord told us, “These things I have spoken unto you, that, in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The end of our story is not finished until we stand before the King of glory. Today, our church is located on a major freeway through our town, a wonderful facility constructed four years ago, with the resources and technology to minister to others. The congregation has grown from the thirty-four in attendance at the first service to hundreds who call Liberty Church home. You see, our job is simply to remain thankful for the smallest thing entrusted to us. His purpose remains for each of us when we keep our heart with all diligence.
