A few days ago I was having lunch with a dear ministry friend.  As we shared with each other the subject of fear came up.  I shared this word with her, “If we don’t conquer our giants when we are young and possess strength and vitality, they will conquer us when we are old and feeble.” For instance, fear is a stronghold we have to face. If you find yourself saying things like, “I’m afraid of this” or “dreading the outcome of a certain thing” fear is your giant! It is only when we read and meditate on God’s word that we can replace fear with faith.

Psalm 118:5-7 gives us a key to overcoming fear in us. “In my distress, I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.  The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.  What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me, He will help me.  I will look in triumph at those who hate me.”

Whatever you are going through at the moment, your God is for you. You don’t have to allow fear to torment you concerning the future.  You don’t have to allow fear to paralyze your thoughts about tomorrow.  As a Christian you have the right and privilege to pray and receive help in times of need. It is your choice to refuse to be fearful.  Instead, I encourage you to build yourself up on your faith through prayer and study of His Word.  We have all the answers we need to overcome the giants but we have to use our spiritual weapons. I believe your last days will be fulfilled with goodness and peace.  Fear has no place in me or in you!
