In I Timothy 4:6 it says, “…we are to be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine.” This past week I have been in Southern California attending a conference, speaking in a couple of churches and recorded two radio interviews. However, the best part was seeing and spending time with friends from the past thirty or so years.
These moments were amazing to me. They nourished my soul! We enjoyed great food, sharing wonderful things and sensed the presence of the Lord. Our soul (the emotional part of us) needs these times. Times when we are able to laugh or cry together. Times when we remember the great memories of past victories and share the tough times we have experienced as well.
What I appreciated also was the lack of drama! Not one of my friends entered into the mind games of criticism, self-pity, or blaming someone. I refuse to participate in the whining exercises of life. I don’t know about you but life is way too short for drama.
Our lives have enough drama with the tragedies and storms of life. We don’t need more drama in our personal space. We avoid drama by refusing to point the finger at someone else. Instead, we build ourselves up in our faith through prayer and study of God’s Word. When the Lord gives up opportunities to enjoy good friends and good food, we are nourished. He is good and I choose to keep my eyes on Him!
